WhoFundsWho is a browser extension, and most mobile browsers do not support extensions or only support a select few. But there are some exceptions.
For Android devices, until January 2025 the best option was the Kiwi browser, but it has now been discontinued. The good news is that its extension functionality code has now been integrated into the Microsoft Edge Canary browser, making WhoFundsWho available on mobile browsers again.
This also means that you can use WhoFundsWho on mobile X / Twitter again, by accessing the web-based version through the Edge Canary browser with WhoFundsWho installed, rather than by using the X/Twitter app.
To be sure, the mobile version of the Edge Canary browser allows only a select few add-ons (i.e. extensions) to be installed directly from the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, but other add-ons listed in that store may be installed indirectly, via their ‘store ID’.

To install and add-on using its ‘store ID’ requires you to enable the browser’s ‘developer mode’. Note that this does mean that during the installation process some of the browser’s built-in security checks may not be available. So you should only use it to install trusted extensions.
Fortunately, because Microsoft checks add-ons for malware and other undesirable features before allowing them into the store, you can be sure that any add-on that is listed in the store, as WhoFundsWho is, has undergone the standard security checks. Any subsequent updates to the add-on are similarly verified by Microsoft.
So to use the extension package as it exists in the store, you first need to get WhoFundsWho’s ‘store ID’ from its listing page, and then use this ID to automatically retrieve and install the package. Step by step instructions follow below.
Install by store ID
- Go to the Microsoft Edge Add-on web store
- Type ‘whofundswho’ in the search bar and open the WhoFundsWho page. Or go there directly.
- Look at the URL and copy the text after ‘whofundswho/’. This string is WhoFundsWho‘s store ID. Currently this is ‘gojoimpgfhojkegpgmijlhibgdlbhegk’, but be sure to actually go to the listing page and verify that it still is to always get the correct and most recent file.
- Now download the “Edge Canary” browser from the Google Play Store and install it.
- Open “Edge Canary” and go to “Settings” => “About Microsoft Edge”.
- Tap the “Edge build number” (e.g.,
xx.0.2487.0) 5 times to enable “Developer Options”. Note that while you can enable ‘developer mode’ in the mobile Edge Canary browser, there is no way to then disable it, other than by reinstalling the browser. - Go back to the “Settings”, and scroll down until you see “Developer Options”.
- Scroll down until you see the “Extension install by ID” option and select it.
- Paste the ID that you copied.
- This will install WhoFundsWho and open its start screen and then the user menu.
- After WhoFundsWho has automatically downloaded keywords data and finished its setup, which typically takes less than 30 seconds, it will automatically run in the browser.
Install as .crx file
If you are comfortable bypassing the store entirely, you can also get the extension package file from our Github page and then manually install it in Edge Canary. Do note that in that case you do not have the guarantee that the extension package has been checked for malware and the like by Microsoft.
Step by step instructions follow below.
- On your Android device, download the whofundswho.crx extension file from our Github page.
- Download the Edge Canary browser from the Google Play Store and install it.
- Scroll down until you see the “Extension install by crx” option and select it.
- Tap on “Choose .crx file” and navigate to where you have saved the downloaded
whofundswho.crxfile, and select it. - This will install WhoFundsWho and open its start screen and then the user menu.
- After WhoFundsWho has automatically downloaded keywords data and finished its setup, which typically takes less than 30 seconds, it will automatically run in the browser.
